All Sheilagh's work is influenced by the environment, what she sees and experiences whilst walking on the land.

However, her work is not simply about the view.  Instead she endeavours to explore the 'particularity' of a place.  This includes the impact that historic and geological events may have had on the shape and structure of the land and in turn how this has influenced its inhabitants in the past as well as in the present. Language and dialect is of great interest to Sheilagh as she sees this as underpinning a strong sense of identity linked to place and this is expressed often with words scrawled into the paint.  It is this deep connection to the land that inspires her work.

Sheilagh has been exploring the possibilities of making work that sits IN the landscape.  More recently this has manifested itself through a series of small sheds which have related images inside and out.

Sheilagh has a keen interest in environmental art and was one of the founders The Cloud Gallery group of artists.  This group have created several eco art events in Shropshire.
